WARNING: Pride and Prejudice

All of you who are thinking of watching "Pride and Prejudice" (the Kiera Knightly one) at the Varsity Theatre should NOT go watch it there because they DELETED the last, most romantic and most loving part of the entire movie!!!

After Elizabeth talks to her father and her father gives his blessings on her marriage to Darcy, he chuckles and tells his household to send anyone in who come looking for more of his daughters' hands in marriage. Donald Sutherland, the actor playing the father, chuckles and smiles and the audience cheers and...

The credits came on.

We (as in the audience) couldn't believe it. WHERE WAS THE POST- MARRIAGE SCENE? WHERE WAS THE SCENE WHERE DARCY AND ELIZABETH KISS, AND DARCY CALLS HER "MRS DARCY"? WHERE WAS THE LAST MAGICAL AND ROMANTIC SCENE? WHERE???

Aaaaaarrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhh!

Apparently this was why there wasn't the last scene- the ending scene is NOT in the book and Emma Thompson was specially invited to write this new ending. However, the British didn't like this ending and so they cut it. And since the DVD has not come out, BYU had to specially ask the British something to get them the movie, to which they (the British something) of course gave the deleted-ending scene version. And now the movie is even worse, bcause at least in the first version, the last scene was a nice resolution and showed the two leads happily ever after. Now, the last scene in the edited version shows the FATHER's face before the movie cuts and the credits come. HELLO??!! Who wants to see the face of the father at the very last 5 secs of the movie? We want to see Elizabeth and Darcy together, happy!!! Bring back the deleted scene!

So here's another warning for you as well- make sure if you buy the DVD to buy the one with deleted scenes and go watch it after you've seen the movie. That is, when the movie comes out on DVD soon...

Oh oh and I just found out that BYU's International Theatre is showing the 6 hour BBC version of Pride and Prejudice next week. Swoon! Colin Firth is soooo hot in there man. The 6 hr one is not as pretty or artistic as the movie version, but that is the truest version and has the best Darcy so far compared to every other version. So, I'm going to skip the first three hrs because I hate Wickham and I've no time to spare, but I'm gonna be a slacker on Wed night, 8-11pm and watch the 2nd half of the BBC version and drool whenever Colin Firth comes on. It was so funny when Ryan Wood was describing how Colin Firth acted in the BBC version- he (Colin Firth) stared at everything with his brows furrowed the entire time. Ryan is hilarious! I just laughed at his description and his imitation expression of how Colin Firth looked. I guess it is a "girl thing" how we love Colin Firth in Pride and Prejudice, just like how guys like golf. Anyway, anyone care to join me, meet me there!

Meanwhile, have a good night!
