For my American friends: "Thick skin" or hou lian pi means you are not easily fazed or that you don't care about the opinion of others. Usually used in a negative way.
So you know that you've developed a thick skin...
When your things fall off from the table (on the right side) with a loud "thud" in front of the entire class when they are watching a movie and you don't feel embarrassed.
When you lean over to your right to pick them up (ultimately laziness on my part to get my butt off my chair) and then lean over a bit too much and
Oops!
YOUR CHAIR TIPS OVER, and both you and the chair go down.
Ouch!
I have two bruises to show for that now.
But you know you've really developed this "thick skin" when you've slipped, your feet are in the air, and yet all you can do is LAUGH. Yup, I was laughing away while the entire class was going "oh no!"
However, the ultimate sign that you're developed a "thick skin" is when you can actually write about it, tell it to others (like now) and not feel the slightest embarrassed.
Wow! That was a crappy post. I have no idea why I wrote that. I think too much studying lah!

wahahahaha!!!! u are hilarious keesh lai! haha. gosh i can just imagine! mygosh. i will be so so embarrased! no way can i develop ur thick skin-ness. no way man. i will just be blushing so bad! haha. anyways. got major thing to tell u! i changed my major! more details i will tell u next time la! u call me or something lo. cos like second block classes starting tml le. so im going to have like tons of stuff to do! im trying to add two more block classes cos i need to bring up my credit level since i dropped my chem class. so yea. then tat will mean like 3 block classes for second block. so im prob gg to be way busy. one of them is the advanced writing class. then the other is a sociology class. like on race and ethnic thingy. and i tink it will be so interesting cos like ya know we come from a multi racial society. so it wil b way awesome! but now have to see if i get in. cos like both the classes are full now. so i have to go to the class tml and see if the teachers will let me add. ok this is way long. i gtta go class soon so ttyl. love~

i'd die man. of embarrassment. hahaha that and the fact that my face always goes SOOOOOOOOOO red its hard to NOT act embarrassed. yeah, sucks for me. haha.
